The Senior Professional Service plaque will be presented to an individual
who has made outstanding contributions to the field of research administration,
especially those that have benefited Region III.

New Member Service Award
The New Professional Service award recognizes new a research administrator
(research experience of 10 years or less) who has made a significant contribution
to the Region III.

Travel Award
A Travel Award of $1,000 is given twice a year to a nominated and selected
member of Region III. This award is targeted toward newer members who
without the award may not have the opportunity to attend either the national

SPRING 2009 SERVICE AWARDS – Call for Nominations
Region III requests nominations for two service awards for the
Southeastern Region. These awards will honor two individuals
who have made significant contributions to the field of research
administration and the National Council of University Research
Administrators and in Region III. The Senior Professional Service
Award will recognize an established member's outstanding service
to Region III, and the New Professional Service Award will recognize
a new member's accomplishments and service to Region III.
Commemorative plaques will be awarded to these individuals at
the business meeting during the Region III Meeting to be held in
Panama City, Florida, May 3-6, 2009.
GUIDELINES
All awards are subject to nomination and selection by the Membership
Committee.
SENIOR PROFESSIONAL SERVICE AWARD
The Senior Professional Service Award will be presented to an
individual who has made outstanding contributions to the National
Council of University Research Administrators and the field of research
administration, especially those benefiting the Southeastern Region
(Region III).
The eligibility criteria for the award are:
- The nominee must be a current member of the Southeastern
Region (Region III).
- The nominee must have performed outstanding service in the Region
for a minimum of five years.
- Acceptable contributions include service on a regional or national
NCURA committee, presentation and/or panel moderation at regional
or national meetings, service as a regional officer, authorship of papers
in a professional or NCURA publication in the field of research
administration.
Nomination material required:
- One page nomination letter describing the nominee's contributions
to the Region III.
- Letters from two NCURA members (do not have to be from Region III)
supporting the nomination.

Nomination/Selection Procedures
Nominations will be collected by the Chair of the Region III Membership & Awards
Committee and reviewed and selected by the Membership & Awards Committee.
Letters of support should provide biographical information and discuss
the accomplishments of the nominee, noting regional contributions such
as those listed in the criteria.
NEW PROFESSIONAL SERVICE AWARD
The New Professional Service plaque will recognize a new research
administrator who has made a significant contribution to National Council
of University Administrators in the Southeastern Region (Region III).
The eligibility criteria for the award are:
- The nominee must be a current member of the Southeastern Region III.
- The nominee must be an active and productive member of Region III and
have joined the Region within the last ten years, on or after April 15, 1999.
Preference will be given to members with no more than ten years of
experience in the research administration field.
- Acceptable contributions include service on a regional or national
NCURA committee, presentations and/or panel moderation at regional
or national meetings, contribution of ideas and/or suggestions for
improving the Region, or significant contributions in some other manner.
Nomination material required:
- One page nomination letter describing the nominee's contributions
to Region III. The letter must include the number of years the individuals
has worked in the field of research administration and the month and year
in which the individual become a member of NCURA Region III.
- Letter of support form one NCURA member (does not have to be
from Region III) supporting the nomination.
